Friday the 13th
The film poster and the front of the dvd cover have the same picture but the tag line isn’t on the dvd cover where as it is on the poster. The back cover of the dvd gives more information about the content of the film than the poster does, this is done so that the audience’s attention is grabbed by the poster but then secured by the dvd cover; therefore getting people to buy it. The back cover also intrigues the audience because there are more pictures which makes the audience wonder what is happening in the pictures.
Gothika
The front cover of the dvd and the poster are basically the same but the posters colours are brighter than dvd front cover and it also has the tagline on whereas the dvd cover doesn’t. The tagline intrigues the audiences so they want to watch the film to see how the tagline develops. The back of the dvd is full of text including the synopsis and the credits. It also has a bright picture behind the text which also intrigues the audience.
Underworld awakening
The poster and the front of the dvd has a picture of the same girl but in a different pose and zoom. From the poster we guess that the woman is the villain because she is holding guns but from the dvd front cover we don’t know whether she is the victim or villain. There are also two different taglines; one is on the poster and a different one on the back of the dvd cover. The synopsis is quite short on the back of the dvd and there are also a lot of pictures. The back of the dvd also makes us guess that the woman is the villain.
Vault of Horror
The poster and dvd cover are completely different. The poster gives hints at what is going to happen in the film but the front of the dvd cover doesn’t give anything away. As the back of the dvd cover has the synopsis on it, it shows what the film is about and you can then understand the point of the film before watching it.
